If you’re like me, you hate holiday shopping. Not because you hate the people you’re shopping for, of course, but because it’s STRESSFUL. Here are a few tips to make it a little less hectic so you can spend more time with your family and friends!
- Make a list.
Just like Santa, you need to make a list and check it twice! Who are you buying gifts for? What do they like? What is your budget? Sticking to your list will keep you on track and on budget, saving you headaches down the road.
- Plan your route.
Figure out the stores you need to hit up and map them out accordingly. What’s the quickest way? Is there a back way to avoid traffic? If you need to, put your shopping list in the order of your route so you don’t miss anything and have to backtrack.
- Park in the back.
Finding a parking spot takes up so much time! Head straight for the back of the lot so you can get in and out quickly. The extra steps will be worth it if you don’t have to wait for a spot or dodge pedestrians.
- Ask for help.
Can’t find that ugly Christmas sweater in your mom’s size? Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance. Maybe there’s backstock, or they can order it for you! Retail workers would rather you buy from their store than a competitor, so they’ll be happy to help you find what you need.
- Have a Plan B…and C.
Sometimes even the best-laid gameplans fall through and that’s ok! Make sure you have alternate gift ideas in case something is sold out. (There’s no shame in grabbing a gift card!) Be prepared to scout online for better sales if something is out of your budget in-store. Give yourself time to check out a couple different stores if you need that gift NOW and can’t afford to wait for delivery.
Here’s to successful Christmas shopping and making memories this holiday season!
